Chair Massage is Popular in Any Public Setting

Many people have read my articles, or heard me talk about chair massage. However if you have never experienced it, you may not know exactly what it is all about.
Chair massage or seated massage is type of massage where the client stays dressed and is seated in a massage chair "seen in video below". It will usually happen in a public place. During my career I have performed chair massage in Chiropractors offices, Corporate settings, high end salons, restaurants, barber shops, Town fairs, Farmer markets, Girls night out events, and many charity events.
There is no limit to the different types of settings where chair massage is possible.

A popular option is where the Owner/Boss of a business will reward their employees for a job well done with a chair massage day. Another option is that the employees will pay into their chair massage day them selves on a monthly basis. This type of payment works well for Tupperware parties, or other home events. It can really help make your party memorable!

The industry standard for chair massage is 1$ per minute however I do offer a discount for a two hour minimum. Contact me today for a price quote. 203 430 3163

Body mechanics are a corner stone of Massage Therapy

As a Massage Therapist people always ask me "don't your hands get tired and start to hurt?
Another thing they ask is if my back, neck, and feet are hurting after a long day of doing massage.
The answer I give is always the same no. The reason for this is I practice proper body mechanics. Massage dose not come from your hands.

It all starts with the lower body and core muscles. Never bending at the waist or leading with your hands. This process is described in the video below. This is one of a million differences between a Licensed Massage Therapist and an am mature unlicensed person.

Many Other Therapist have instilled in me the importance of proper body mechanics when I was in school. This lesson has never left me, and I always try to emphasize it to new therapists.

Full Spectrum Lighting For Seasonal Depression

As the Seasons change, day light savings has come. We all have to adjust to it getting dark outside as early as 4:30. A lot of people want to know what we can all do to combat seasonal depression.

The number one product I can recommend is a full spectrum light bulb. These light bulbs are made with neodymium, which is a rare element used in space age technology. These bulbs were made in northern Finland, because much like Alaska life is sustained in total darkness for months at a time.

These lights mimic natural sun light, and promote a sense of well being. They can really can really help make a long winter a little bit shorter.

The deception and dangers of the flu shot

We are constantly bombarded with information from the media that tells us we need a flu shot to be healthy, but what is the motivation. After many years of research, all signs point to greed. There are huge profits to be made through flu shots. The medical community spends millions of dollars marketing the idea that "you must get a flu shot to remain healthy"
I know this is not true because flu shots are loaded with toxic poisons such as mercury that cause undisputed neurological damage. I believe that just like all food is required to list all the ingredients on the label drugs such as the flu shot should have to disclose their ingredients as well.
I personally never had a flu shot, and also never had the flu. The reason for this is there are safe and natural alternatives to prevent the flu. The number one prevention for the flu is vitamin D-3. I personally take 5,000 IU's per day.  I know people that take even more!  Please watch the videos below to see several doctors opposing view of the flu shot.

Scientific research for massage therapy

http://www.massagetherapyfoundation.org/pubmedsearches.html

The link above Has a vast amount of information from a well respected source "Pubmed".
It showcases a great amount of scientific evidence that supports massage therapy as a great intervention for any neuro-muscular  condition.
One of the obstacles that I face as a Massage Therapist is people saying that there is no science to back it up. This is simply not true. Please check out the link to learn more about medical case studies that support Massage Therapy.

Image change for massage therapy

When you think of massage therapy what image comes to mind? A relaxing spa on a cruise ship or casino? While this may be true, Massage therapy has gone through an image change over the last 25 years.
Massage therapy has become a part of the health care community. The two most common reasons why people seek massage therapy are stress relief and chronic pain.
The reason clients keep coming back is because massage therapy addresses the cause of these issues. Factors that are contributing to this image change, are standards and regulations such as post graduate education, a code of ethics, and a license for therapists that pass a national boards exam.
Even some health insurance companies are choosing to include massage therapy in their coverage plans. However you don’t need to have chronic pain to benefit from massage therapy.
A once or twice a month maintenance plan will help prevent injuries, and chronic pain from occurring in the first place. It is fair to consider massage as an overall maintenance plan for your health

Is DMSO a miracle cure?

Dimethyl sulfoxide also known as DMSO is a by product of turning wood into paper. There is a vast amount of evidence that proves DMSO is a safe and effective treatment for many health problems. Whether it is whip lash, back pain, or tendinitis.

Because it is not a patentable substances, and the profits are limited there is great opposition to DMSO. It is used all around the world, and has been proven safe and effective. I prefer to use 70% DMSO mixed with aloe vera, because of the added benefits of aloe.

The reason it works so quickly is because it is able to penetrate the skin on contact, and supplement your cells with oxygen. Oxygen encourages healing anywhere in the body. It has been proven that many diseases can not survive in an oxygen rich environment. Watch this video to learn more!

Whole Food Supplements

Not all vitamins and supplements are created equal. I believe that some supplements are much better than others. In my opinion Whole food supplements are far superior to synthetic vitamins and minerals.

The reasons for this is that whole food supplements have nutrition in specific proportions as nature intended. some popular whole food supplements are chlorella, parsley, any type of sprout, and many herbs.

It is also important to buy whole food supplements that have not been pasteurized, so it will retain all of the natural enzymes. These enzymes help and aid in digestion, and other bodily functions.

Once you have the extra boost of nutrition your body will be able to operate at peak performance as it was designed

Massage therapy is known as a great way to relax, and reduce stress. For what ever reason I have gravitated towards deep tissue massage, also known as medical massage. How to properly stretch to maintain health

stretching is one of the best exercises to do on a daily basis, but it must be done properly.
As a massage therapist I specialize in safe stretching, and proper technique. some stretching can be done by yourself, while others can only be done with the help of a licensed professional.
what ever type of stretching the intention should be to lengthen the muscle as much as possible. Benefits are that it increases flexibility.
It also helps muscles relax and return to their normal length. there are many different types of stretching.
1. ballistic stretching- this is when there is a bouncing action at the end of the stretch. This is not recommended because of the damage it can do to the muscle.
2. Active stretching- This is when a person simply stretches by them self.
3. Passive stretching- is when you are stretched by the therapist.
4.proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation or PNF- this is a technique where the patient and therapist work together, it is described by an isometric contraction followed by a post isometric stretch. this can only be done by a licensed professional

The Many Benefits of Receiving a Therapeutic Massage in a Health Care Environment

In these tough economic times everyone is concerned with getting the most out of every dollar. I believe the best massage therapy session takes place in a health care environment.

The first reason is time. I offer full one hour sessions compared to 50 minute sessions that most spas offer.

The second reason is value. I am currently offering a cash plan where you would pay between 50-60 dollars per session, compared to the 100 dollars you would likely pay at a spa.

The last reason is in a medical environment you would never be required to tip me for the massage therapy session, where as in a spa tips are expected and sometimes built into the price.

This is why I feel strongly that the best value and most benefits for massage therapy are experienced in a health care environment.  Go to my website and click on loyalty program for more information.

Top Secrets for Achieving Longevity

There have been many studies over the years involving the longest living people on the planet, and how they became so healthy. but lets take a closer look and see exactly what all of these populations have in common.
1. stay active- We have all heard the term use it or lose it, but it really is true. Try to stay active at all costs. If you can walk 2 miles a day when your 50, and continue to do it every day, there is no reason why you will not be able to do it into your 80’s.
2. Find your life purpose- When you love what you do every day, you automatically become a person filled with passion and gusto. This attitude is is contagious to the people around you, and really sets you up for longevity.
3. Take a break in the middle of the day- yes this is a tough one, but the benefits are amazing. When you take a 10 minute break in the middle of the day just to relax and breathe deep you may find that you have a great burst of energy, and even feel more at peace.
4. 80% rule don’t over eat- In Okinawa “where people have achieved the most longevity” they have a rule that you eat until you are 80 percent full. this is with good reason because caloric restriction has shown to increase life span in all animals including humans.
5.Go green- While it is important to eat all food groups, including protein, carbohydrates, and fat to be healthy. You can benefit so much from adding more green food into your diet. All green food is packed with vitamins and minerals, enzymes, and other micro-nutrients that the body needs to perform at optimal levels.
6. Family Matters- Maintaining a close social network with friends, and Family is an essential and often overlooked part of overall health. You cannot disregard the mind body and spirit connection if you ever hope to become truly healthy!

Chelation Therapy

Chelated minerals or oral chelation are natural substances that chemically bond with toxic material such as lead, mercury, and other toxins. They are then removed from the body, mostly through the urine. Benefits include opening up of arteries, increased circulation, and getting more oxygen to the blood. For faster results consider intravenous chelation at a holistic clinic in your area.

Relive your constipation with massage therapy

The typical American diet consists of processed pork for breakfast, fast food lunch on the go, and pizza or meatloaf for dinner. With this type of diet it is only a matter of time before you become constipated.

One way to change this unhealthy cycle is to change your diet to more fruit and vegetables, increase your water, and many other dietary improvements. But how can massage therapy improve your bowel function?

In the video below A massage therapist demonstrates how to perform an abdominal massage for constipation. I know from my own practice, that massage techniques can improve your constipation in as little as one session.

An improvement in bowel function can lead to more energy, less headaches, and a more clear thought process.

Health benefits of drinking water

Every human is made out of water, and it is needed to survive. It is very possible That the cause of your disease is because you are dehydrated. Lack of water can cause lack of energy, inflammation, or pretty much any problem.

You must drink one ounce of water for every two pounds that you weigh. so if you weigh 150 pounds you must drink 75 ounces of water every day.

Another thing to consider is that if you consume soda, coffee, or any other beverage that contains caffeine, you must drink extra water because these caffeinated drinks are considered diuretic. This means that they draw water out of the body.

If you are trying to lose weight, water will help in this process as it will help to cleanse your cells, and dilute toxins.

Remember that only water is water, no matter what any other product claims to do, science can not improve water.

Qi Gong and its many health benefits

In an article written by Kenneth M. Sancier it was stated that Qi Gong is a traditional form of exercise practiced in the eastern world, as a part of Traditional Chinese medicine.
It can be described as a series of flowing motions, stretches, and deep breathing, that has many health benefits.
These benefits include anti-aging, endocrine gland function, improved balance. It may even be a reason why people in the eastern world live such long healthy lives.

Sleep Hygiene

In the united states there are more people deficient in sleep than anywhere in the world. Because being over scheduled is a status symbol in American culture, we lose time for sleep. However sleep is not something that should be over looked! I am the Massage Therapist for Empower Massage, I also suffered from insomnia for about eight years. One day I decided to make some healthy life changes, and magically I instantly became a former insomniac. Here are the reasons for my drastic improvements in my sleeping habits.

1. Stop eating fast food, and other processed foods

2.Get some sunlight during the day, this will release natural melatonin, and also supplement Vitamin D

3. Stop consuming large amounts of sugar

4. It is also my opinion that you should stop eating meats produced with artificial growth hormones

I have been sleeping like a baby since 2006, and have greatly improved my health. Now I want to share the information I have with everyone. I could not be where I am in my life right now if it was not for me improving my sleep habits. I would also like to point out that I do not take any prescription drugs, as it is well known that they have dangerous side effects!

Rebounding is a great form of exercise

We all know that there are many great forms of exercise to choose from. If you belong to a gym you probably will not be able to find a rebounder there.
But they should consider providing them for their members. A rebounder is a miniature trampoline. Just 20 minutes of jumping on a rebounder per day, will move more lymphatic fluid than an hour walk, or even an hour massage!
The reason rebounding is such a great form of exercise is because it stimulates every cell including all organs and glands…. boosting the immune system.
It will increase the amount of oxygen in your tissue including muscles, bones, organs, and glands. After your first week you will also notice a large increase in energy!!

Magnet and copper bracelets

A lot of people ask me “what can I do between massage therapy sessions to manage the pain in my hand and forearm?”
One of the best things that i can recommend is a hematite magnet, and or copper bracelet.
the reason that this is so effective is because copper increases circulation, and therefore alleviates sore muscles, and magnets restore energy flow.
Magnets are effective for carpal tunnel, arthritis, tennis elbow, or just after a long days work. Post a comment about your success stories from wearing magnets for pain relief.

Digestive Enzymes

When discussing nutrition, most people talk about protein, carbohydrates, and fat.

Some more advanced nutrition experts will even talk about glycemic index, food combining, eating right for your blood type, and much more.

But what about Digestive enzymes? Digestive enzymes are found in raw uncooked food. They help ease digestion and take away some of the burden on the body, caused by digestion.

There are 2 main ways to get more digestive enzymes in your body. One is to eat more raw food, and the second is to take a whole food supplement or a supplement simply called digestive enzymes.

inquire at your local health food store. Symptoms of a lack of digestive enzymes include digestive disorders, lack of energy, mental confusion, and constipation. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you may be suffering from a lack of digestive enzymes.

Massage therapy is a great alternative for carpal tunnel syndrome

If you have ever told your medical doctor that you are suffering from symptoms of carpal tunnel, he or she likely told you to try drugs to manage pain, or even expensive surgery.

However a lot of people are becoming aware of the dangers of prescription and non prescription drugs. Massage therapy can be a safe and effective way to relieve pain from carpal tunnel syndrome.

By choosing massage as your method of relief, you are addressing the cause of your dysfunction. Carpal tunnel is an entrapment of the median nerve as it passes under the transverse carpal ligament into the wrist.

Through a combination of deep tissue massage and stretching, I will be able to address the cause of your carpal tunnel in a way that drugs and surgery can not.

Symptoms include pain, tingling, numbness, in the thumb and first three fingers. Barbers, cooks, musicians, or anyone that works with their hands are most likely to suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome. So make your appointment today if you are suffering from pain!

Natural Cleaning Products

Everyone wants to have a clean home, but how clean is your home in reality if you use toxic cleaning products. Examples of these toxic products are Bleach, benzene, chloroform, and so many others.

If you have children or pets they are particularly at risk. There are so many natural cleaning products, most of them work just as well and cost far less than the brand name toxic products. Here are examples of natural cleaning products that i use my self.

1. Essential oils- some have disinfecting properties such as oregano, basil, clove, and thyme which are all antibacterial and antimicrobial. Another is tea tree oil, which has been shown to destroy MRSA.

2.Baking soda- extremely useful and affordable. you can use it to clean jewelery or silverware. Removes mold anywhere.

3.Distilled vinegar-I use this to clean my toilets. Also great for tea and coffee pots or windows. Also a great fabric softener.

4. Lemon juice- Great at removing odors from surfaces or you hands. Works great on formica surfaces. I use it to clean reusable water bottles.

5.Salts-works great when scrubbing surfaces, because of its abrasive nature. Mix with lemon juice or vinegar.

6.Hydrogen Peroxide- Very affordable! Removes blood stains from clothes. Can be used as a bleach substitute. But more on that next time!!!

There has been a drastic change for the image of massage therapists in the last 20 to 30 years. However there are 5,000 years of research that prove that it works, and should be considered part of the medical community.

The United State is finally beginning to catch up with the rest of the world, when it comes to understanding the true health benefits if massage therapy!

Vitamin E

In my personal opinion one of the vitamins that Americans are deficient in is vitamin E. One of the reasons people are deficient in vitamin E is because it is only found in small amounts in food.
Some of the benefits of taking vitamin E are increased blood flow, increased circulation, helps get oxygen into your cells, is a powerful anti-oxidant , and works as a natural blood thinner.
As always I feel that the best source of vitamin E is a whole food supplement. The best whole food source of vitamin E is rice bran oil, or wheat germ oil.
Another way to get your vitamin E is to go to your health food store, and ask for full spectrum vitamin E. Avoid “dry” versions of vitamin E, because vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin, so it is not easily absorbed this way.

Healthy Vitamin D from the sun

There has been a lot of talk about vitamin D, as a way to prevent health problems. But did you know that the number one source of vitamin D is from the sun.
There are many health benefits from daily sun exposure. Some of them are improved sleeping habits, improved depression, improved digestion, and less colds and flu’s.
If you are new to getting sun exposure there are some rules you should follow. Start off slow, depending on your skin complexion. Start in the spring time, and build up your time in the sun.
This way you will not get sunburn, and remember if you use sunscreen you will be blocking your vitamin D absorption. Wear light colored clothes to the beach, and bring something to cover up in case you start to burn.
If you live north of Los Angles, you will not be able to benefit from the suns health benefits from November to March। During this time you can supplement shiitake mushrooms, or cod liver oil. This way you can keep up with your vitamin D all winter.

Tiffany Field P. H. D.

There is no one more responsible for conducting evidence based studies that prove the health benefits of massage than Tiffany Field. Back in 1982 she began her studies, and by 1992 she established the touch research institute at the university of Miami school of medicine.

Early on she became known for a study that showed premature infants would gain more weight if they had massage. She has been involved in more than 350 medical journal articles.

According to her studies, there is not a single condition that dose not improve when massage is applied.
